Description:
Lesser Periwinkle is an evergreen (always green) plant that grows close to the ground.

Its stems spread and can grow up to 30 inches long.

Dark green, shiny leaves grow in pairs and are about 2 inches long.

Blue to violet flowers (sometimes white) bloom in May and June.

The flowers grow where the leaves join the stem, and after flowering, it produces two small, thin seedpods.
In old times, it was believed this plant could keep away evil spirits. In France, it was called “violet of the sorcerers” because of these magical beliefs.
