Description:

  • Type: Small, low-growing shrub

  • Height: Grows up to 2 cm tall

  • Stems: Thin, creeping stems that can grow up to 10 cm long

  • Leaves:

    • Small, oval, evergreen (stay green all year)

    • Size: 3-8 mm long

  • Flowers:

    • Strongly scented

    • Colors: Lilac, pink-purple, magenta, or sometimes white

    • Size: 4-6 mm long

    • Appear in small clusters

Special Features:
This tough little plant can grow in areas with light foot traffic (people walking over it) and gives off a pleasant smell — sometimes herbal, sometimes with a hint of lemon.


Medicinal Uses:

Wild Thyme has been traditionally used to help with:

  • Respiratory infections in children

  • Dry, nervous asthma

  • Whooping cough

  • Severe coughing with very little mucus

  • Ringing in the ears

  • Pressure in the head

  • Sore throat (worse when swallowing without food)

  • Distended (swollen) blood vessels and a burning feeling in the throat

This herb has strong healing properties but should be used carefully and in the right way, especially for children.
