Solidago Virgaurea (Goldenrod)

Family: Asteraceae (Daisy family)
Other Names: European Goldenrod, Yellow Weed, Woundweed, Blue Mountain Tea, Aaron's Rod, Sweet Goldenrod, Canada Goldenrod, Liberty Tea.

Plant Description

Goldenrod is a hardy perennial herb native to Europe, now widespread in Asia, the Azores, and the Americas. It thrives along roadsides and open fields, growing 3–7 feet tall. From August to September, it produces small, bright yellow flowers clustered at the top of its stems.

Interestingly, despite popular belief, goldenrod does not trigger hay fever — ragweed is the actual culprit. However, some people may experience minor skin irritation from direct contact.
