Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common condition that affects many children, especially boys, and can continue into adulthood. It makes it hard for children to focus, stay still, and control their actions.
The three main signs of ADHD are:
Inattention:- where it’s difficult to pay attention or follow instructions.
Hyperactivity:-where a child may move around too much, fidget, or have trouble sitting still.
Impulsivity:- where a child may act without thinking, sometimes making quick decisions that could be risky. These challenges can make it harder for kids with ADHD to learn, play, and get along with others
*Signs and Symptoms of ADHD
ADHD symptoms can look different in each child. It can show up as mostly problems with attention, mostly hyperactivity and impulsiveness, or a mix of both. Sometimes, these symptoms can happen in children without ADHD, but for those who have the condition, the symptoms are more frequent, intense, and interfere with daily life.

Forget things often, get distracted easily, Have trouble focusing on and finishing tasks, Seem like they’re not listening, Be disorganized, Take a long time to start tasks, Frequently lose things Children with hyperactivity may Be restless or fidgety, Have a lot of energy and be “always moving”, Talk loudly and nonstop, Struggle to sit still (in class, work, etc.), Run or climb in places they shouldn’t, Have trouble playing quietly or relaxing.
Causes:
The exact causes of ADHD aren't fully known, but there are some factors that might play a role, including:
Genetics – ADHD can run in families.
Trauma – A serious traumatic experience in childhood.
Premature birth – Being born early.
Brain injury – Injuries to the brain.
Exposure to toxins – Being exposed to harmful substances, like high levels of lead, at a young age.
Maternal factors – The mother smoking, drinking alcohol, experiencing high stress during pregnancy, or being exposed to lead while pregnant.
It's important for parents to remember: ADHD is not your fault, and it doesn't mean you're not doing a good job. Don’t blame yourselves.
